Chainat Hornbill vs Trat FC

2019 Thai League Week 17: Chainat Hornbill Edge Out Trat FC

Chainat Hornbill hosted Trat FC in an entertaining game at the Khao Plong Stadium during week 17. Chainat Hornbill were able to boost their survival hopes with an important 3-2 win against Trat FC who have been performing well this season.

Chainat Hornbill got off to a good start and took the lead in the 8th minute. Brazilian forward Ricardo Santos was able to muscle his way into the box passed defenders Baihakki Khaizan and Supoj Wonghoi before playing the ball back to Jaturapat Sattham who took one touch before drilling his shot into the bottom corner.

Chainat Hornbill continued their early dominance of the game and doubled their lead in the 27th minute of the game. As Chatchai Koompraya received the ball 25 yards from goal, he faked a shot taking the ball past four players before curling an effort into the goal.

A minute before half time Chainat Hornbill nearly made it three. Ricardo Santos continued his dominance of the Trat defence, barging into the box. As the ball ended up in the air after being failed to be cleared by the Trat FC defence, Ricardo Santos attempted a superb overhead kick which was clawed away by Todsaporn Sri-reung.

In the 57th minute, Ricardo Santos was at it again. A through ball was played into the box for the Brazilian a rash challenge from on loan defender Nukoolkit Krutyai gave away a penalty. The defender was nowhere near the ball and there was no need to challenge in that position as Ricardo Santos had no support in the box. Ricardo Santos then scored a well deserved goal, converting through the middle to make it 3-0 and securing the win for his team.

However, Trat FC would refuse to be beat so easily. A moment of madness from Chainat goalkeeper Teerath Nakchamnarn would mean that his team would be under pressure for the rest of the game. As Teerath gets hold of the ball he swings an elbow at Adefolarin Durosinmi, who appeared to be low-key trying to block the counter attack. This drew angry responses from Trat FC players and resulted in the sending off of Chainat Hornbill keeper Teerath Nakchamnarn. As the event happened in the box, Trat FC were awarded a penalty.

Adefolarin Durosinmi was unable to get revenge, as substitute goalkeeper Kritsawat Kongkot saved the penalty. However the backspin of the effort meant that the ball nearly spun back into the goal. However, the ball was cleared off the line.
The heroics of Kritsawat Kongkot would not last as a few minutes later, the keeper would let a long range effort Adefolarin Durosinmi under his body. The goal would give Trat FC hope and rally their players until the end of the game.
In the last minute of the game, league top scorer Lonsana Doumbouya managed to poke the ball under the keeper to make it 3-2. However it proved to be too little too late. Chainat Hornbill managed to get vital 3 points while Trat FC still sit in a comfortable 6th position.
