Muangthong United vs Bangkok United

2019 Thai League Week 17: Muangthong United Get Big Win Over Bangkok United

Muangthong United gave themselves a massive boost of avoiding relegation with an massive home win over title chasing Bangkok United. In an entertaining game Heberty, managed to score a last minute winner to give his team a 3-2 win.

It was the visitors who took the lead, somewhat against the run of play. Brazilian Vander troubled the Muangthong United defence on the left. When his cross was not properly cleared, it fell to Pokklaw Anan on the edge of the box. The Thai international shifted the ball to one side and played a low drive into the bottom corner past the helpless Đặng Văn Lâm.

In the 42nd minute Muangthong were able to equalise with the help of some very questionable defending from Bangkok United. As a cross was played in Bangkok United defender Everton awkwardly cleared the ball after striker Derley had slipped over. The poor clearance fell to Muangthong United new boy Bruno Gallo who scored with a composed finish.

However it was Bangkok United who regained the lead in the 55th minute after a well worked move from Nelson Bonilla. The El Salvador international received the ball in the box next to the touch line. As the forward was being closed down by Bruno Gallo and Adisorn Promrak, Bonilla was able to squeeze himself in between the two before firing the ball into the roof of the net from point blank range.

Muangthong United once again equalised, this time in the 68th minute. A shot from Charyl Chappuis was well saved by Michael Falkesgaard, however the rebound was unable to be cleared. Teerasil Dangda was able to sweep in and put away the rebound.

Both sides had chances to take the lead with Adisak Kraisorn drawing a great save from Falkesgaard and Nelson Bonilla hitting the post. It was Muangthong United that stood up to be counted in the 91st minute when Heberty scored a thirty yard screamer to earn his side an important win.

Overall Muangthong United deserved the win after controlling the game and creating the better chances. Alexandre Gama has really done wonders since he joined as manager and bought in an influx of players. While Bangkok United yet again slip up in their chase for the title.
