PTT Rayong hosted current champions and league leaders Buriram United as they looked to make up for last weeks loss and regain their place at the top of the table. PTT Rayong has seen their mid-season form move them up from relegation zone to comfortably in mid-table.
PTT Rayong started the game very brightly, and created a number of chances within the first 15 minutes with an uncharacteristic slow start from the visitors. However, Buriram were able to successfully ride out this period of pressure and begin to assert their dominance as the game went on.
Buriram United came out in the second half with all guns blazing. They then managed to take the lead in the 53rd minute when midfielder Kevin Ingreso crossed the ball into the box, which was met by youngster Suphanat Mueanta who clinically headed home. Suphanat’s influence is growing with every game and he is really starting to become a great little player. Buriram were aided in the goal by Rayong defender Suttinan Phuk-hom trying to play the offside trap, however all it did was leave Suphanat Mueanta free to score.
PTT did have a late chance to score an equaliser when midfielder Saharat Kanyaroj played a long ball into the box. PTT Rayong’s Brazilian forward Dennis Murillo was able to chess the ball down, however his effort was fired straight at the keeper from point blank range.
With this win Buriram United were able to reclaim their spot at the top of the league after Chiangrai United only managed a draw. PTT Rayong still remain four points off the relegation zone but will be starting to look over their shoulders.
