The goals came thick and first with the first being in the 18th minute. Thai international Kroekrit Thaweekarn was able to float in a cross towards the back post. The ball looked to have been overhit but was able to impressively stretch and wrap his leg around the ball to give Chonburi the lead.
Aminute later Chiangmai United equalised when a long throw was played into the box. Chiangmai striker Eliandro used his physical presence to create confusion in the box allowing the ball to ball to Gionata Verzura who took a shot. Chonburi keeper Kampol Pathom-attakul was able to get a foot to the ball however it bounced off right into the path off Mustafa Azadzoy to tap it in.
Chiangmain United took the lead soon after through Ekanit Panya. The youngster received the ball on the edge of the box. He was able to dribble someway unchallenged before playing a one two off a defender as he ran into the box. With only the keeper to beat, Ekanit Panya slotted home into the bottom corner.
In the 39th minute Chonburi FC tied up the game. A long ball was flicked on by Patrick Cruz into the path of Lukian. The Brazilian’s pace took him through on goal were he easily converted past the keeper.
In the 42nd minute Kroekrit Thaweekarn once again puts through Lukian into the box. Lukian on the turn manages to place the ball past the keeper into the bottom corner to complete his hat-trick and give Chonburi FC the lead once again.
During added time at the end of the first half Chonburi FC won a penalty. Lukian once again tormenting the Chiangmai defence found himself in the box. Chinagmai United defender Yuttajak Kornchan very rashly dived in taking out the Brazilian without getting anywhere near the ball. Lukian once again converted, this time from the spot to give Chonburi FC a 4-2 lead going into half time.
In the 55th minute Chiangmai United were able to pull a goal back on the counter attack after Lukian was disposed of the ball. Mustafa Azadzoy was played into the box where he hit the ball very well past the keeper for his second of the game.
Chonburi FC were soon at it again. Captain Kroekrit Thaweekarn was once again involved playing a pass to Phanuphong Phonsa. The midfielder could see that Lukian was running unmarked on the right hand side and was able to slip him the ball. The Brazilian then calmly side footed the ball into the top corner for his fifth goal of the game.
The Chiangmai United defence was once again caught out when a long ball was played over the top to Sithu Aung. The left wing back ran unchallenged into the box where he put his foot through the ball into the top corner to Chonburi a 6-3 lead. The wing backs goal would not have looked out of place in a Roberto Carlos compilation.
In the 89th minute Chiangmai United were once again able to get a goal back in spectacular fashion. Defender Wanmai Setthanan fired in a long range effort that flew into the top corner to make the score an astonishing 6-4 to Chonburi FC.
In the first of four added minutes Chiangmai United somehow pulled another goal back. Ekanit Panya played a though ball into the box for Eliandro. The Brazilian striker did well to run into the box and shoot with the outside of his foot without breaking stride. His effort managed to curl away from the keeper into the bottom corner leaving Chiangmai FC only one goal behind.
Pretty much straight from the kickoff Chonburi got their seventh and final goal to put any thought of a miraculous comeback to bed. Sithu Aung received the ball on the left hand side. The Myanmar international swung in a cross to an unmarked Sittichok Paso who slotted home for 12th goal of this crazy game.
In what is very likely to be game of the season Chonburi FC managed to edge out Chiangmai United 7-5. Lukian would have done his hopes for the golden boot no harm with five goals to his name.
