Chonburi FC have announced the signing of ex-Thai international Datsakorn Thonglao on a free transfer. In what is a coup for the club, they have signed one of the most decorated Thai players around.
The 35 year old has amassed over 300 career games including winning 4 Thai League titles. The first league title came in the 2001-2002 season for BEC Tero Sasana, while the other three league titles came during Datsakorn Thonglao’s prosperous spell at Muangthong United between 2010 and 2018 where the midfielder amassed 172 league appearances scoring 22 goals. Thonglao’s illustrious career also includes spells in Germany and Vietnam.
Datsakorn Thonglao was most recently signed to Suphanburi’ reserve team Simork FC in a player/coach role. Simork FC have been playing in the Thai League 3 Upper Region, however financial trouble has meant the club has not been paying their players or staff resulting in all their fixtures for the season being cancelled.
As for Datsakorn Thonglao, the midfielder was able to get a release from has contract and is eyeing one last crack at the Thai top tier with Chonburi FC.
