Lucas Rocha has signed for Muangthong United from Brazilian Serie D side Boavista Sport Club. The move to the Thai League comes after the 24 year old defender never making an appearance for Boavista despite spending three seasons there.
Lucas Rocha most notable season in football would likely be in 2018, when he was loaned out to Atlético Clube Goianiense in Serie B. Rocha made 28 appearances in that season scoring one goal.
The Lucas Rocha signing continues a somewhat of a Brazilian revolution for Muangthong United. With Brazilian coach Alexandre Gama having joined the club mid season to steady the ship, he was used his extensive knowledge and contacts of the Brazilian market to bring in the likes of compatriots Derley and Willian Popp.
These signing have been made in an attempt to plug the gap of the many departures due to sponsors SCG reportedly reducing the budget they are providing Muangthong United for the upcoming season. This has already led to the high profile departures of Heberty, Teerasil Dangda, and Charyl Chappuis with Sarach Yooyen also likely to leave in the near future.
With one of the best managers in the league at the helm, and some very interesting signings from Brazil balancing the departures of key players creating somewhat of a transitional phase, it will be a very interesting to see how Muangthong United do this season.
