Thai League 1 side Suphanburi FC have announced the signing of Singapore international Zulfahmi Arifin for the upcoming season. The 28 year old midfielder who has has a fairly successful international career with 46 caps joins from Hougang United FC.
Zulfahmi Arifin takes up the third ASEAN player spot with Filipino pair Patrick Deyto and Patrick Reichelt already at the club. While the Brazilian striking duo of Cleiton Silva and Dellatorre have been released.
Suphanburi FC will hope that Zulfahmi Arifin will be able to be able to provide the creative spark from midfield as the club seriously lacked goals last season, scoring only 29, the lowest in the league. Suphanburi finished in 14th, which usually would mean relegation. However due to PTT Rayong folding they were spared their place in the league. Suphanburi FC will not hope for a repeat of last season, and will aim to stay well clear of the relegation zone.
