The club began in 1967 as Port Authority Of Thailand FC by Major Prachuap Suntranakul. The club were immediately successful winning the 1968 Kor royal Cup. They carried on their successful run winning a total of six titles between 1968 and 1979.
The club officially changed its name to Thai Port FC ahead of the 2009 Thai League season to fit in with new Thai FA regulations stating that all competing teams must be registered as limited companies.
